Hello, I'm Michael Eckert, the founder of Alighieri's Auction House, located in the heart of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. My journey into the world of auctions and luxury jewelry began about seven years ago, but my passion for this industry started long before that.
A Hobby Turned Passion
Initially, I began selling jewelry as a hobby. I would buy men's rings, wear them for a while, and then sell them for a profit. This hobby quickly turned into a business as I realized the joy and excitement that came with each transaction. The thrill of finding incredible pieces and the satisfaction of seeing them go to new homes ignited a passion within me. This led to the creation of my accounts on Amazon, eBay, and Etsy, where I began selling more frequently.
The Birth of Alighieri's
Over time, I found myself drawn to the auction format. Auctions are exhilarating; the competitive bidding, the chance to snag a great deal, and the sheer variety of items available make each event unique. This fascination with auctions culminated in the creation of Alighieri's Auction House. At Alighieri's, we specialize in high-end jewelry, gemstones, luxury purses, and even cars under our Goldentree Estate Sales brand.
The Name Alighieri's
Naming the auction house "Alighieri's" was a deliberate choice that reflects my admiration for Dante Alighieri, the renowned Italian poet and author of "The Divine Comedy." Dante's work is celebrated for its intricate beauty, profound insight, and timeless elegance—qualities I strive to embody in my auction house. Just as Dante's writing has endured through the ages, I aim for Alighieri's to be a place where exquisite and enduring treasures are discovered and appreciated.
My Expertise and Passion
I have a deep-seated love for gemstones, particularly black opals from Lightning Ridge, Australia. This fascination has led me to specialize in jewelry and gemstones, ensuring that every piece that passes through our auction house is of the highest quality. With seven years of experience as a dealer, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a keen eye for detail to every auction.
Personal Background
I hold an associate's degree in engineering from Bucks County Community College and have always been active in my community. I ran the Philadelphia marathon in 2015 and am a proud member of both the Flemington Chess Club and the Princeton Student Body Chess Club. These experiences have shaped me into a dedicated and disciplined individual, qualities that I bring to my business
